We had anticipated that numerous new announcements would be made at the WB CinemaCon 2026 event; however, the proceedings concluded rather uneventfully. Even James Gunn—the director of DC Comics—did not attend the event; instead, Peter Safran appeared in his stead. Nevertheless, there are several interesting updates to share; let's take a look at them one by one.
Peter Safran explained that James Gunn was unable to attend the event because filming for *Superman: Part 2* is scheduled to begin next month. Casting for the role of Wonder Woman in this film has reportedly been completed. Information has surfaced suggesting that Antonia will be the actress portraying the character of Wonder Woman.
Next, several clips from the *Supergirl* movie were screened. These included scenes depicting the destruction of Krypton—Supergirl's home world—her subsequent escape to Earth, and sequences featuring Jason Momoa in the role of Lobo. With the film scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, the anticipation surrounding it is already quite high.
The trailer for the *Clayface* movie was also released, featuring Tom Rhys Harries in the lead role. Several other characters were introduced, portrayed by actors such as Max Minghella, Naomi Ackie, and Eddie Marsan. Notably, this film is not an action movie, but rather a horror film. *Clayface* is slated for release later this year, during the Halloween season.
These were all the updates released regarding the major DC films. James Gunn's absence proved to be a significant disappointment. Following these announcements, updates regarding several smaller films were also provided; we will explore those details in our next post.
